Memorial Day is the day where we remember all those who died serving our country, those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. It is a day for flag waving, parades, and spending time with family. It is a day to relax and enjoy the freedoms that we all have because of those who served and sacrificed. This Memorial Day I will be spending it with my family and close friends. We will do the ultimate American past-time and have a barbecue. We’ll have a fire pit, make s’mores and maybe even light off some fireworks (don’t tell the township…), all the while, remembering.
A few things to do before having a barbecue, or any kind of party is to plan ahead and make it as simple as possible for yourself. I do this by planning my menu a week in advance and shopping a few days prior to the party. Then I cook as much before hand as possible and lay everything out on my table to make the buffet a simple and easy set up. Label your dishes, roll your napkins and silverware and do yourself a favor and use DISPOSABLE!
Keep the bar a simple affair with just beer and wine and maybe a signature cocktail thrown in….I’m thinking Mojitos or mint juleps since my mint is doing great right now! Then, sit back and enjoy your friends and family!
A great, easy menu would be*:
BBQ chicken
Baked Beans
Corn on the cob
Mac ‘n Cheese
If this all seems to be too much for you to have to do, then call Feel Like a Guest! We can come and help you with all your party needs! That is the best way to “feel like a guest” at your own party!
I hope that you all have a happy, healthy and safe Memorial Day weekend!
