I want to have a party….maybe I shouldn’t. I am saving up for Christmas. My kids birthdays are coming up. We are getting our driveway redone. So many reasons why I shouldn’t have a party.
I want to have a party.
On a budget.
A tight budget.
Has this ever gone through your head? This is a weekly thought of mine. I always want to have a party. Maybe that’s why I am in the business I am in?? Well, I have the solution for you….GAME NIGHT!!! I will admit, I am not a sit down and play a board game kind of person. I get antsy and need to move around. That’s why this type of game night is my favorite. Adults only, buffet style finger food, laugh your a** off games and maybe a self serve bar… So, drop your kids at their grandparents house, put on your yoga pants and running shoes and get ready to party.
FOOD
Find recipes that are grab and go kind of food. Finger food, two-bites, dips, etc. You don’t want to miss your turn in Minute to Win it because you were busy eating a full plate of food! Mini sliders are a great option- filling, satisfying and the options are endless- Philadelphia cheese-steak, burgers, buffalo chicken…whatever your heart (or stomach) desires- just throw it on a mini bun and put them on the table! Is your budget even tighter than this? Ask your friends to bring a dish and make it a “Pot luck game night”.
Need something green? Try out this fun option.Yes it uses a fork but look how cute it is! Line these up on the buffet and let your friends help themselves!
Pasta salad on a stick? I’m not sure I can say yes enough to this! Make these with any combination you like and put them out on the table. They will be gone in seconds!
THE BAR
Where do your guests hang out? Where do your guests go to the minute they get in the door? What gets the most amount of action at a party? The bar. It is the place to be, the place to be seen and the place to get (de)hydrated. Game night is no different. If you keep your beer cold and your wine flowing, your game night will be the best night ever! Keep it simple though- no one needs anything crazy on game night. If you feel the need for something a bit more boozey, do a signature cocktail. Otherwise, stick to beer and wine. This is supposed to be a *cheap* night, remember??
THE GAMES!!!
The more interactive, the better. Who wants to sit around a table and play Yahtzee. Not me. I want to look ridiculous, laugh until my stomach hurts and be sweaty by the end of the night. Sounds fun, right?
Here are some fun games to try out…
MINUTE TO WIN IT:
-cookie face: each person has an oreo on their forehead and they have to use only facial movements to get the cookie into their mouth.
-Junk in the Trunk: each person has a tissue box filled with ping pong balls taped to their *behind* and they have to shake them out in a minute or less. …Wait until you see the moves people will come up with.
-Work Your Man Junk Game: Tie a pair of nylons with an orange at the bottom around your waist. The person who moves the ball on the ground the farthest in a minute wins.
It’s time to invite your friends over, chill your beer and look like idiots!
Happy Game Night!
